Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide expertise in many technological areas pertaining to database technologies.
• Specialize in database topical areas such as logical database design and database development using Microsoft/Opensource technologies.
• Participate in defining and promoting best practices relating to database development to the organization.
• Work concurrently on several product development projects with development engineers to review and recommend possible optimizations to database design and development code.
• Perform analysis and reviews on complex applications being released into production.
• Provide input and execute on efforts to improve the efficiency and quality of our development projects.
• Investigate and analyse reported defects in a timely manner, and recommend solutions to these problems including code changes, data updates, or configuration modifications.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.
• Must have 2+ years of database related experience.
• Designed large-scale data models and relational database architecture.
• Experienced working with MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 and other popular relational databases.
• Experienced in SQL coding and the design and implementation of stored procedures.
• Experienced with DTS/SSIS or popular ETL tools.
• Experienced with data design and modelling tools such as Power Designer.
• Experienced with indexes and query tuning.
• Possesses a solid understanding of distributed application and web application development relating to database technologies within a high-end environment.
• Understands multiple SDLC concepts, including waterfall and agile.
• Able to handle several projects simultaneously.
• Able to work independently and in a team environment.
